The length of a chimney cleaning depends on several factors, including the size of your chimney, the type of fuel you burn, and the amount of buildup inside your chimney. Typically, a chimney cleaning takes between 30 minutes to an hour. However, if there is a significant amount of buildup, it may take longer. We will provide a more accurate estimate of the time needed to clean your chimney during the inspection process.

You do not necessarily need to be present during the chimney cleaning, but there must be someone available to provide access to your home and to answer any questions that the chimney sweep may have. Our goal is to ensure that your chimney is cleaned and maintained safely and efficiently, with as little disruption to your schedule as possible.

The equipment we use today ensures minimal mess and is designed to contain as much soot as possible 99% of the time. However, soot is a very fine substance and accidents can occur if this happens please contact us we will arrange for a professional cleaner to rectify the problem.

There are conflicting views on this, we believe you should consult your Chimney Sweep as it may depend on your usage. Other factors will impact this, such as, your insurance company’s preference, or Thatched properties, but in general at least once a year as a minimum. 

All flues require cleaning regardless of the fuel used, whilst they should not produce soot, they do clog up and present a danger to life and can produce carbon monoxide gases. 

Professional sweeps will always sweep the whole flue, however, you can ask to see the brush as it exits the chimney pot at roof level, this will ensure the whole flue has been swept. 

In short yes! BUT live nest are protected by law and must not be removed during the nesting period -usually between February and August. This period may start earlier and extend past August. 

No, HETAS are not a Government body. Their approved chimney sweeping scheme is nothing more than a private company excising their right to promote their business.
